Schedule Your Problems

My Usual Happy Self!
I am always amazed how wonderful this world is and works.

Although my calling is to inspire, promote, help and be of service to others, I am still a human being first. I am still learning and even practicing my own preaching.

I woke up this morning to find several challenges facing me. It's the common challenges that face all of us such as unexpected bills that need to be paid. I truly believe that the only reason why I am even going through any financial challenges is so that I can walk through this with you. It is so that you do not feel alone.

Like all problems, this too is temporary and will resolve itself.  There is no need for me to add stress to my life. There is no need for me to shift my focus from what I do have to what I don't have.

If you want to stress about something like a finance, schedule a time for it.  Allow yourself some time, like an hour, where you allow yourself to be stressed, to cry if need be, to complain and wallow in your own misery. As soon as that one hour is over, that's it, you are no longer allowed to continue on with any negative feelings towards it.

In that hour, did your challenge get resolved? Probably not and I hope you only allowed yourself to waste that one hour.

Once you are back in a great mood where nothing can stand in your way, you'll notice that you can think clearer.  You make better decisions, you have better judgement. At this time is the only time when your creative juices will start to flow and you will find solutions to combat those problems.  I also think of it as a real life video game.  You may lost this level of this round but you always keep coming back until you win that round plus make it to the next round.

Once my cheery mood came back, I've been flooded with these wonderful little blessings today. I received a surprise card from a special friend. It's a card of encouragement to continue goi g after my dreams!  I also received wonderful tweets from other friends that instantly made me smile!

No matter what the challenge, use that moment for a greater cause.  My baby fell sleep right next to me and I thought of all the things I can't get done now because I can't leave her. I used this opportunity instead to finally take a moment to relax, read my book in peace and quiet and write this blog. There are always opportunities within challenges.

Spend some time to look for that opportunity. Please also share with me what challenges you overcame by not allowing stress to add to that.

I love you, my friend! Bug hugs for you :)

Interview So Fun, We Are Doing It Again!

Monday's interview with Yale grad, Christina, was so much fun that we are going to do a take two!

When you start off with not being able to tell time, you know you are going to have a fun day at work.  I learned that we have four time zones instead of three.  You would think that being the producer and host, I would at least know what time zone I was in.  I was an hour late for my own work.

With the usual technical difficulties and film production delays, we made it through everything and finally started the interview.  You will notice that I am attempting to hide my baby girl and my friend underneath the table.  Although visually it worked, the audio with a child banging her toys on the chair was not music to even this mother's ears.  We had to cut again and enjoy further commercial breaks...

From the wonderful photos, it appears that I am having a good time.  There was certainly enough laughter to go around as well.  Am I having fun?  No.

Although being a modern mom certainly has it's glories, there are times when the convenience level drops to zero.  As cute as a button as she may be to her own mother, the audio that coincides with the video can be less than pleasant.  Yes, I do encourage bringing your children to work.  Yes, I encourage them being a part of your work.  Am I bringing her next time?  Hell  no!

Although some of our shows may appear to be fun and easy, there is a lot of work that goes into even the simplest shows.  There are a lot of people to coordinate.  There are a lot of schedules that must coincide.  There are time zones that have to match.  All of these things must work together in order to produce any type of show.

Why do I even bother?  My message is an important one.  Christina's life experience is here for you as an example of what is possible when you do not give up.  We are here to show that you as long as you continue on, you will get there.  As with this particular episode, although there were road blocks, they are not bigger than us.  I am an example for you that things will come up along the way and only  you can decide if you will accept defeat.

I want you to see that although we all have bumps in the road, it is up to you what you make of them.  I enjoyed filming this episode immensely as I got to see my long time friend, although briefly, and it reminds me how proud I am of her and her accomplishments.  I have learned my time zones.  I have learned that although I am a mother first, I do enjoy my time away from her as well.

Watch for our bloopers show and the "making of" show for my favorite moments from this show as well as the interview once it's complete.  It's definitely a story that you will not want to miss.

Whatever your challenges today, make sure to not only get through them but choose to do it with a huge smile on your face!  Make it a great day, my friends!

Evelina's Cooking Lesson

Rise and Shine, my Valentines!

Today is our very first day of taping and I could not be any more excited!

We are going to start off the show by having a little bit of fun.  It is going to be a cooking lesson for me and a quick and healthy meal for you.

As some of you already know, I have been with my husband for about nine years now and have never cooked him a meal.  I just don’t cook at all.  He is an excellent cook and I certainly would not want to out do him, so I just don’t cook!

For you, my friends, I know you guys are busy.  Some of you have little ones at home and by the time it’s time to cook dinner, you are completely exhausted.  Some of you go to school and after being at school all day and having to study at night, you want something quick and easy as well as healthy.  We also have the single friends who are not going to cook a big meal for just one person and we have our dual income couples who do not want to cook as soon as they get home but still must prepare something.
Getting Ready for the Cooking Lesson!

I’ll be spending some time with Serge, the chef and owner of Rigolettos CafĂ© in Edmonton, Alberta.  (www.rigolettos.com).   Serge will show us how to cook and prepare a very simple but healthy meal.  If I can’t screw this up then neither can you.  Although I can’t predict how this will turn out, I am excited to try something new and hope that it gives you some ideas as well!

We are also featuring an up and coming photographer, Cathy.  Her work is absolutely stunning and she tells me that she is still learning!  She will join us on set today to take some still photos and show you guys how much fun work can be.  We will showcase some of her photos on our website (www.TheEvelinaShow.com) and if you are interested in hiring her for some personal photos, please contact us directly and we will get you in touch with her.

I am off now to prepare for work!  It feels funny to say it’s work because it does not feel like work.  This is my dream job and I can’t wait to start.  I welcome your comments so please post them.

Thank you for being here with me.  I hope I can entertain you, inspire you and motivate you to live your best life, follow your dreams and be as happy as you possibly can be!

Enjoy your day J

Much love,
Evelina
